NewBie

Well Good-evening all one of you who may be reading this, I am a newbie to the whole blog thing.  As a matter of fact I guess you could say I am a newbie with many things in my life right now.  For those who don’t know me or know anything about me, let me take a second to fill you in.  I am a student at Johnson Bible College, studying Bible and Youth Ministry/Children’s Ministry.  I grew up an Army brat in North Carolina, love the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys.  I also have the greatest wife in the whole world and a three month old fetus which now has two arms, two legs and a huge head according to my new ultra-sound photo I received today.  I have crazy dread-locked hair and some say I am OCD when it comes to matching my shoes to rest of my wardrobe, which is 100%….true.  O and not to mention I have been entrusted with the coolest 1st thru 5th graders on the planet right here in Sevierville, Tennessee at the sweetest church ever. That’s right I am the Elementary Director (in training) @ the Gathering. So, back to being a newbie, let me explain a little more.  I am newly married (10 months today), newly a father (although the bun’s still in the oven), newly a Children’s Minister (1 month), and newly a blogger (18 minutes 05 seconds), although newness is not always comfortable, I absolutely love being new to all of these things, well except for whole blogging thing, I mean I’m still on the get to know ya level with the blog.I say all these things because newness is great, new things are exciting, new experiences are fun and being a newbie feels amazing.  We must make sure we are careful with the things in which we become complacent, or content with.  I used to think I had arrived when I made it to that point of being content with my life, when I was were wanted to be and had all I set out for.  But it was always at these points in my life when I stopped striving and started coasting (or sitting) that satan seemed to show up and throw me off course.  I have just recently realized the more I strive to get to that next spiritual level, the more I begin to explore this thing called Children’s Ministry, the more I seek out Christ, the more find out about my lovely wife and our marriage…..the more I love being a NewBie. one
